May 16, 2009: the first module of activities is hold in Plovdiv (Bulgaria)

On May 16, 2009, in Plovdiv (Bulgaria) the first module of activities in Bulgaria was held, organized by the Courage Foundation (partners in Bulgaria) and the Rokada Chess Association.

The module included a group of 30 children aged 11 to 16 from six schools in Plovdiv and 4 children from the Olga Skobeleva Orphanage in Plovidiv. Two teachers/psychologists organized seminars and discussions on the concept of difference: “What does it mean to be different? Are differences positive or negative? How do you approach differences?”.

A chess tournament was then held, set according to the same Olympic model with the participation of six mixed teams. Each child represented their own country and competed in a mixed team with other peers never met before the event.
