From 2 to 7 April 2009: workshops, round table and sports tournaments hosted in Turin

Participants in the events were representatives from local Ngos, schools, local authorities and youth groups from the project’s partner countries: 40 participants from Bulgaria, Romania, Austria and Turkey. The main objective of the event was to educate the various representatives to the idea of “Sport against racism” to increase their awareness and allow them to export it to their countries of origin.

The workshops were based on interactive methods and field practices. The participants in Aries were testimonials of a sports tournament organized for disadvantaged children from Romania and Bulgaria (orphans, Roma children, handicapped people funded by a different EU project). Together, it has been established that sport can actually be used as a tool to create integration against any difference. It also discussed EU laws on children’s rights and policies to combat discrimination and racism.
